Each of the Dallas County Community College District's seven colleges—Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake, and Richland—is individually accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: Telephone number 404-679-4501) to award the associate degree.

The Dallas County Community College District is chartered as a political subdivision of the State of Texas and is governed by the laws and policy of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Courses taken through Dallas TeleCollege will be transcripted on a Dallas County Community College District transcript as being offered by Eastfield College or another appropriate college of the system.
